Gaza slaps retaliatory ban on Israel fruit imports

(MENAFN) Gaza's Agriculture Ministry has responded to an Israeli ban on the import of its fruit through blocking Israeli fruit imports.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, ministry official Tahseen al-Sakka stated "in response to Israel's ban on importing our fruit, we will ban fruits imported from Israel."

The Gaza Strip has recorded, ahead of the bans, almost 20 tons of imports of Israeli fruit per day by Israel's Kerem Shalom border crossing, with exports reaching around 20 tons of vegetables to Israel.

The official further explained that the retaliatory move "will not affect local prices for fruit, which we can produce in Gaza."
