Court hands divorce to assaulted woman

(MENAFN) The Second High Sharia Court (Jaffari) has handed divorce to an Arab woman from her husband who tried to kill her by attacking her with an axe, pushing her from the third floor and throwing acid at her.

The Bahraini husband is now serving seven years sentence given by the First High Criminal Court of Appeal.

The woman's lawyer, Fatima BinRajab, declared that the court had permitted divorce to her client, aged 32, from the father of two, after 14 years of marriage, taking into count many reasons involving the physical and psychological assault which is caused by the husband and his rejection to financially support her and the children.

Ms BinRajab confirmed: "the defendant's attack on the plaintiff and damages he caused to her resulted in an irreparable situation in which they are unable to live together."
