(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 9 (Petra) - Chinese Ambassador Pan Weifang said that his country is the largest foreign investor in Jordan due to the Kingdom's security and stability.
He told a press conference ahead of the 8th session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, which will be held in Beijing on Tuesday, that the Chinese-Jordanian strategic partnership, which was announced by President Xi Jinping and His Majesty King Abdullah II at a joint press conference in September 2015, is a key milestone in cementing bilateral relations.
He noted that as part of efforts to alleviate the burden placed on Jordan as a result of hosting Syrian refugees, China provided emergency humanitarian aid to the Kingdom to help the displaced Syrians.
The ambassador affirmed Beijing's commitment to finance various development projects in the kingdom, pointing to a number of Chinese investments in various fields.
He said that talks are underway between the two countries concerning cooperation in railway, renewable energy, water, oil pipeline, nuclear power and other major projects.
The envoy also referred to increasing cultural and educational ties between the two countries as they signed an agreement to establish a Chinese Cultural Center in Jordan.
He pointed out that his country has become the largest donor of training programs in Jordan, adding that 6,000 Jordanians received training in China during the last four years.
The ambassador stressed that Jordan is an important partner in the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", expressing his country's aspiration to enhance consultation and coordination with the Kingdom.
He pointed out that the volume of Chinese-Arab trade in 2017 amounted to nearly 200 billion US dollars and the volume of Chinese direct investment in the Arab countries is about 1.3 billion US dollars.
