Oman Post launches new commemorative stamp '2018 FIFA World Cup Russia'
(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- When all attention is on the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Oman Post is celebrating this iconic football event by launching a commemorative stamp. The launch event was held at Oman Football Association (OFA) under the patronage of Salim bin Said al Wahaibi, chairman of the Oman Football Association, with the attendance of AbdulMalik bin AbdulKareem al Balushi, CEO of Oman Post, and a number of officials, football enthusiasts and stamp collectors.
The launch of the commemorative stamp came to showcase the interest of Oman Post in highlighting the role of postage stamps in documenting and preserving world events, while reaching out to football enthusiast through those stamps locally and internationally. Balushi said, 'The launch of this stamp for the first time contributes to celebrate this global event and participate with football enthusiasts from around the world, and especially those in the sultanate with their excitement for this football event.' He added, 'The stamp is part of Oman Post's efforts to highlight the importance of sports and to diversify the areas of issuance between sports, tourism, culture and national accomplishments. It is also to enhance the sultanate's presence in international occasions by designing commemorative stamps and introducing the Omani cultural heritage and current achievements.'
The uniqueness of this stamp comes from its circular shape produced in high quality in print and design. An international company worked on both designing and printing the stamp using the latest technology. The stamp includes the official logo of the world cup and colors used to reflect the Omani football team's colours.
With 8,000 copies of this 500bz stamp, Oman Post launched a stamp collection, each containing ten stamps with the cover, including the stamp, date of the launch and a pamphlet about the stamp.
The stamp will be available in the following offices: Hai al Meena office, Central Post of Salalah, Sinaw, Sur, Nizwa, Sohar, Buraimi, Ibri and Khasab. Stamp collectors can get their stamps by ordering them through the email address: .
