Houthi rebels voice 'strong desire for peace': UN envoy
(MENAFN) UN Ambassador to Yemen Martin Griffiths has voiced positivity following a meeting with top leader of the Houthi rebels in an attempt to bring the civil war to an end.
AP reported the envoy to have confirmed that the Houthi rebels have stressed their "strong desire for peace" as they mulled over "concrete ideas for achieving peace".
Griffiths further unveiled a possibility of a meeting to be held with Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi in the southern city of Aden.
A Saudi-led coalition allied with Hadi's internationally recognized government has been at war with the Houthis since 2015, with a failure of past attempted peace efforts.
