Kuwait increases oil production by 85,000 bpd

(MENAFN) Kuwait has employed a plan to boost the production of its oil by 85,000 barrels per day (bpd), as unveiled Energy Minister Bakhit al-Rashidi.

The move was explained to be part of a deal between OPEC and non-OPEC producers to raise the oil output by million bpd.

Speaking to Al-Rai, the energy minister announced "Kuwait will raise its oil production from tomorrow to 2.785 million barrels, a daily increase of 85,000 compared to May, based on last week's production cut agreement.

"It comes as OPEC reached a decision earlier this month with Russia and other oil-producing allies to increase production in July to reach one million bpd.
