Qatar Charity, PWF join hands for welfare of Pakistani expats

Qatar Charity (QC) in partnership with Pakistan Welfare Forum (PWF) generated a donation of QR1.69 million during a recent fund-raising event held by the Pakistani community in Qatar. The event was presided over by Fareed Khalil al-Siddieqy, Head of Admin Support Division at QC. It was attended by the officials of Embassy of Pakistan and prominent members of the Pakistani community. A number of professionals, businessmen and philanthropists from the community also participated in the event. The donations announced will be utilised for the education and welfare of deserving members of the community in Qatar.

Fareed Siddieqy, speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour, hailed the partnership between QC and PWF and informed the participants that QC had been working with various communities in the country for a long time and had established a special centre to take care of deserving and the needy individuals and families. 'QC has also been arranging various other activities for the communities every year, including sports, health and cultural events, Fareed added. He said that every year QC organised a special project during Ramadan called ‘Barahat Aljaleyat' for each community on daily basis offering Iftar with briefings on the importance of Ramadan.
He hoped that it would be the beginning of a new and long-term partnership between QC and PWF aimed at carrying out joint welfare projects, including education and financial support for the deserving families of the Pakistani community.

Ahmad Hussain, PWF President, appreciated QC for its support and co-operation. He said the partnership between QC and PWF would carry out different projects providing the opportunity to those, who value social responsibility and pay back to the society and community. He also outlined a comprehensive ‘PWF Community Development Programme'. The programme will identify maximum number of out-of-school children. These children will be groomed, transferred to regular schools and ultimately, transformed into an asset for the society after being equipped with education and skills. He especially thanked Education Above All (EAA), a global foundation working for rights of children, for accepting and supporting PWF's endeavours for the education of the deserving students.
Hussain further said that other welfare programmes of PWF, including medical support to the needy, would also be strengthened. He appreciated the trust and support of the Pakistani community for PWF since its inception. He said that the strength of PWF lay in support from all Pakistani fora and associations in Qatar.
Mohammed Idrees Anwar, a PWF's founding member, gave an inspirational speech and recited various verses of Holy Qur'an and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about giving special care to the needy through Zakat and Sadaqa. He encouraged the participants to be generous and become PWF members. He said that PWF had managed to engage the community through consistent and committed efforts under the patronage of Embassy of Pakistan and with co-operation of QC. He added that the community admired PWF for its welfare endeavours and the forum also pledged to reach out to those who were in need of support.
