Oman- Al Ansab Sewage Treatment Plant phase II work nears end


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The expansion work of Al Ansab Sewage Treatment Plant ( STP) phase II is 98 per cent complete and the project is expected to be over within the next few months.

Eng Khalid bin Hassan al Lawati, acting projects general manager at Haya Water, was quoted in a press release as saying, 'The treatment plant is currently in the commissioning stage and the capacity of Al Ansab STP after this expansion will reach 125,000m3 per day. The plant is equipped with a state-of-the-art technology called, membrane reactors technology known as MBR. The plant is considered to be one of the largest in the world that operates on this technology.'

Al Ansab plant project has been divided into several stages to ensure scheduled and smooth implementing.

The plant which was built and began operations in 2010 accommodated 57,300m3 per day and the capacity is expected to improve and increase to receive 125,000m3 per day after the expansion is complete. Furthermore, the capacity of the Al Ansab plant will increase to 140,000m3 per day after the completion of phase III by the end of 2022, Eng Lawati added.

The project has connected around 11,565 units to the sewage networks.

The total length of the sewage networks in the wilayat of Bausher is about 660km. In addition, the treated water distribution network length is about 87km and the fibre optic length is about 528km.
