The high-profile event will be held under the patronage of the Minister of Economy and Commerce, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani,
The Conference is organised by Silah for Marketing and Exhibition with Qatari Businessmen Association as the Strategic Partner and Business Continuity Institute in UK and bci Qatar Forum as the Professional Development Partners. This is after the success of the first Conference 'Business Continuity ... stability and achievements which was held in December 2017.
The announcement was made at the press conference held on Sunday, June 24, 2018, attended by Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei, Chairman of Qatar Business Continuity Forum and Conference President, as well as Salah Mohammed Al Jaidah and Saud Omar Al Mana, representing the Qatari Businessmen Association (Strategic Partner).
'The first edition of the conference last year offered many Qatari companies to share their experience about how they managed to overcome the impact of the blockade by having a proper risk management or business continuity management as part of the system of their organisations, and remained resilient and stable, Al Yafei told The Peninsula on the sidelines of the press conference.
He added: 'This year we will be discussing some of the recommendations that came from the previous edition with special focus on supply chain management, cyber security and government's role in achieving business continuity resilience for the whole country.
He said that industry experts from different parts of the world, including the UK, will be highlighting the importance of integrating risk management as part of the strategy of any organisation.
'We cannot have strategy without proper risk management and identifying different possible risk factors, such as natural calamity, cyber attack, explosion or any unprecedented scenarios, and have an alternative business plant to ensure uninterrupted supplies of goods and services, noted Al Yafei.
He also noted that the second edition builds on the outcomes of the first conference, which adopted a participatory methodology by involving the attendant business continuity and resilience specialists in developing a number of recommendations in six important areas, namely SMEs, Cyber-security, networking, establishing links among BCR specialists, supply chain, and finally, the role of the governmental sector in supporting business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management.
Through experiences that took place during the first conference, Al Yafei pointed out, it became evident that there is a need to integrate a capacity-building component in the Business Continuity and Resilience sector in Qatar focusing on establishing business community and resilience programmes as well as risk management plans, in addition to participants' keenness to establish connections and forge relationships among professionals.
The conference will also focus on integrating international best practices, providing practical methods and an opportunity to benefit all participants.
