206 Palestinian protestors injured or suffer suffocation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, June 22 (KUNA) -- Up to 89 Palestinians suffered injuries during a demonstration on Friday against the Israeli occupation -- dubbed "faithfulness to the martyrs and the wounded." Spokesperson of the Palestinian Health Ministry Ashraf Al-Qudra said in a statement that 206 Palestinians were injured or suffered from suffocation caused by tear gas, during the confrontations with the Israeli troops east of Gaza.
He added that 120 cases were treated on the field and the others were whisked to hospitals.
Among the injured were eight children, in addition to 44 protestors who were hit with live ammunition. Two medics were also wounded during the clashes with the Israeli troops along Gaza's eastern demarcation line.
Palestinians have been staging Fridays' demonstrations at the confrontational points around Gaza, demanding return to their homeland and affirming utter rejection of the occupation.
Scores have been killed, maimed or injured since the confrontations broke out in March. (end) wib.rk
