(MENAFN) Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) has reclaimed control over major Ras Lanuf and Es Sider ports, the head of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced.
NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla also expressed his anticipation for operations in the key ports to recommence in the "next couple of days".
Chairman Sanalla noted that Libya has been losing production of 450,000 barrels per day (bpd) following the eruption of conflicts between the LNA and rival factions closed the two terminals.
The LNA regained control of the ports a week after anti-Haftar armed groups' attack forced them to pull out amid serious clashes on Thursday.
Ahead of an OPEC meeting in Vienna, Sanalla told reporters "we lost 450,000 bpd in last eight to nine days and hopefully in next couple of days we can resume operations."
He added "we had a minor fire yesterday and we extinguished it and the situation there is good. We will make the assessments and then resume operations as soon as possible."
