Turkey to hit US goods with USD267m retaliatory tariffs
(MENAFN) The Turkish Ministry of Economy has declared retaliatory tariffs to hit US imports at a worth of USD267 million after the US imposed tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum.
The Turkish ministry explained in its statement the total worth of tariffs to be an equivalent of the additional costs Turkey needs to pay as a result of the tariffs the US imposed.
Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci stated "we cannot and will not allow Turkey to be wrongly blamed for U.S. economic challenges."
The tariffs were unveiled to be affecting US goods that include coal, paper, walnut, almonds, tobacco, unprocessed rice, whisky, automobiles, cosmetics, machinery equipment and petrochemical products.
