Ford and VW discussing cooperation

(MENAFN) Rival car giants Ford and Volkswagen (VW) are in the early stages of talks about jointly developing a range of commercial vehicles.

Both companies said that they were "exploring a strategic alliance" aimed at strengthening both companies' competitiveness.

However, they said that the cooperation would not involve any share swaps or cross ownership deals.

Car companies getting together to pool resources and cut the costs of developing new technologies amid a growing demand for more environmentally-friendly vehicles, is not new.
