Greek PM hails Turkey as critical, strong

(MENAFN) Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has hailed Turkey as an important and strong country which takes in 3.5 million Syrian refugees.

Turkey's stance in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean to Greece has been altered after the July 15, 2016 defeated coup attempt organized by the Fetullah terrorist Organization (FETO), the minister told Greek state television ERT.

The Greek prime minister said, after Turkey's role in the migrant crisis, that "it deserves to be respected in this regard."

He added "I couldn't have promised about this. I'm aware of the separation of power principle in a country like Greece. I haven't been able to make a promise to the leader of a foreign country about a ruling that judicial authorities would make."
