(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Information technology Authority (ITA) continues its online marketing campaign named, '#Short is better' through its social media channels.

Through the campaign, the ITA is highlighting the Private Work Permit Service by Ministry of Manpower (MoM). The campaign is being carried out in cooperation with MoM through social media accounts of both entities. The campaign also features a promotional video that encourages the use of the service, in addition to some marketing materials, surveys and stories shared through these channels.

Service usage

According to the statistics of MoM, 371,353 private work permits were registered electronically since the beginning of the implementation of the system in 2015. Muscat governorate registered the highest number of permits (113,345), followed by North Batinah (66,420), South Sharqiyah (32,310), Dakhliyah (32,157), Dhofar (29,023), South Batinah (27,861), North Sharqiyah (26,849), Dhahirah (24,167), Buraimi (11,962), Al Wusta (4,698) and Musandam (2,561).

New service update

MoM has issued new updates in the individual private work permit service in which citizens do not have to attach any documents when applying for the service as the approval and authorisation will be obtained automatically without any human intervention. This is only for the employees registered in the Civil Service Employees Pension Fund and Public Authority for Social Insurance as the data of these two entities are integrated with the MoM system. Moreover, the system is also integrated with the ROP Civil Status for the proof of social status data needed for the service.

Work permits service

The electronic work permits system is part of a series of eServices provided by the ministry, in order to keep abreast of the digital transformation project, which contributes to increasing productivity and accuracy in completing transactions and reducing the number of visitors to the ministry. Users of the work permits system can access the ministry's website www.manpower.gov.om and request a private workforce. The service enables users of the system to upload required documents (such as salary certificate, marriage certificate, etc.), in addition to paying fees and finally receiving the permit online.

The services can be accessed in two ways. The first one by using their ID card that should contain digital certification obtained from the ROP civil status centres. The second one is through a mobile SIM card that has the digital certification service, which is provided by telecom companies in Oman (Omantel and Ooredoo). The Mobile PKI can be authenticated through the website www.oman.om

Digital transformation

MoM has implemented the electronic work permit service to reduce the number of visitors and eliminate the multiplicity of files and documents of auditors and beneficiaries of the service and facilitate the procedure for service applicants who can submit their requests at any time or place.
