(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, June 11 (KUNA) -- Bahrain on Monday welcomed the outcomes of a meeting held in the Saudi holy city of Makkah on Sunday to address the current economic crisis in Jordan.
The results of the event, which was attended by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Jordanian King Abdullah II, His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, would lead to ensuring Jordan's stability and development, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Bahrain appreciates the generous initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to hold this important meeting, reflecting his genuine approach to supporting brothers and keenness to establish security and peace in all the countries of the region," according to the statement.
It also commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait in defending and serving Arab and Islamic causes, it added.
Leaders of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates approved, in Makkah late Sunday, an aid package amounting to USD 2.5 billion to Jordan over the coming five years. (end) hmd.mt
