Turkey, US chiefs of staff mull over Syria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, June 2 (KUNA) -- Turkish Military Chief of Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar discussed over the phone security issues related to Syria with his U.S. counterpart Gen. Joseph Dunford.
During the phone conversation, both generals exchanged views on their countries' security involvement in Syria along with ongoing counter-terrorism cases, said the Turkish Chief of Staff's office on Saturday.
"The two leaders continued their ongoing conversation regarding Syria, to include ensuring the lasting defeat of Daesh," said the US chief of staff's spokesman Colonel Patrick Ryder.
Ryder added, as key members of NATO, U.S. and Turkey have a strong military relationship. (end) ta.aq
