Charn McAllister

(MENAFN- The Conversation) My research focuses on organizational politics and deviance in the workplace (e.g., abusive supervision, bullying, workplace theft). Specifically, I study political skill, which is the ability to navigate political environments (i.e., every workplace) successfully and with as little stress as possible. I have published several articles in this field including the prevailing theoretical framework explaining political skill. Additionally, my research on workplace deviance attempts to determine the root causes of abuse in the workplace, how to mitigate its effects, and how to make employees' lives better.

I served as an Air Cavalry officer in the military for seven years prior to entering academia. After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, I attended flight school and became a Kiowa Warrior helicopter pilot. During my time in the Army, I deployed to Iraq twice and served in several positions where I was directly responsible for leading soldiers in combat. This experience, both in and out of combat, informs my research and much of my commentary.
