Kuwait- MGRP employees plan strikes to protest against merger with PAM

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Strike will be legal as per conditions set by court

KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Nearly 400 employees of Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) plan to conduct a strike to protest against the merger of MGRP and Public Authority for Manpower, and the lack of response towards their demands, reports Al-Qabas daily.

A number of the protesting employees affirmed that they lodged complaints with the Cabinet and the National Assembly, and submitted letters to the concerned officials to reveal their rejection of the decision, but they did not receive any response. According to informed sources, the strike will be legal as per the conditions affirmed by the Cassation Court regarding the right for employees of the public sector to strike.

The protestors will visit their workplaces during the official working hours but refuse to perform their work in protest of the policy to ignore adopted by the officials concerned with decisions that affect hundreds of employees.

The sources indicated that the current month witnessed many mistakes in the disbursement of labor subsidy to the employees of the private sector such as non-disbursement of the subsidy, problems by the purchase committee and in procedures for preparing contracts due to change in the work policy adopted by MGRP when it was independent
