Doha: The Cabinet which met yesterday with Prime Minister and Interior Minister, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, in the chair praised the speech of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the opening session of the OIC Summit, which affirmed the State of Qatar's firm positions in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The Prime Minister chaired the Cabinet's regular weekly meeting at its Amiri Diwan premises yesterday.
After the meeting, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, H E Dr Hassan bin Lahdan Saqr Al Mohannadi, said that Cabinet welcomed the final communique of the Extraordinary Islamic Summit which was held recently in Istanbul with the participation of H H the Amir.
The Cabinet praised the speech of H H the Amir at the opening session of the Summit which affirmed the State of Qatar's firm positions in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, stressed the need for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause by establishing an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, rejected the practices of the Israeli occupation authorities, and called on the international community to take practical, real and effective steps to protect the Palestinian people.
The Cabinet also praised the efforts of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in support of the Palestinian cause, and his role in convening the Extraordinary Islamic Summit and its success in coming out with a unified Islamic position towards the grave developments in the occupied Palestinian territories due to the continuation of the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the illegal opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem.
The Cabinet underlined that the final communique of the Summit expressed the feelings of the Muslim peoples towards the Palestinian cause and its support for the rights of the Palestinian people and their demand for international protection, as well as their adherence to Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the eternal capital of Palestine and that the opening of the US embassy does not alter the legal status of the occupied city or legitimizes its illegal annexation by Israel.
