Libya: five troopers die in landmine blasts


(MENAFN) Military and medical sources declared that five the eastern-based Libyan military troopers have died in landmine blasts in eastern city of Darna.

An official of the army's missions chamber confirmed: "Five soldiers of the (army's) battalion 212 infantry were killed when a number of landmines exploded west of the city of Darna during a reconnaissance operation by a military detachment, following withdrawal of terrorist group members,"

He added: "The withdrawal of the terrorists came after an air force raids,", as unclear number of insurgents have been shot dead by the army.

The military carried out an operation to reclaim control over Darna from the militants, who occupy the coastal city.
