Saudi Arabia, partners designate Hezbollah supporters as terrorists

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, May 16 (KUNA) -- The State Security Presidency of Saudi Arabia and other partners in the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC) slapped sanctions against ten leading members and supporters of the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
Five of the newly designated are members of Shura Council - the primary decision making body of Hezbollah, according to joint statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday.
The five specifically designated members are Hassan Nasrallah, Naim Qasim, Muhammad Yazbak, Husayn Khalil and Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyid.
The other five, involved in supporting the terrorist activities of Hezbollah, are Talal Hamiyah, Ali Youssef Charara and Hassan Ebrahimi, as well as Spectrum Group and Maher Trading Co.
The designation was made pursuant to the Law of Combating the Crimes of Terrorism and it's Financing issued by a royal Decree No. (A/21) and in accordance with the United Nations resolution no. 1373 (2001), which targets terrorists and those providing support to terrorists or acts of terrorism.
It was made in collaboration with the United States and all other TFTC partners, namely the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the TFTC partners continue to disrupt Iran and Hezbollah's destabilizing influence in the region by targeting their leadership, including five members of Hezbollah's Shura Council. Hezbollah is a global terrorist organization; its leadership does not separate its military and political wings and we continue to reject the false distinction between Hezbollah's so-called 'Political Wing' and its terrorist and militant activities, according to the statement.
As a result of today's action, all property and assets of the designated individuals and entities that are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or in the possession or control of Saudi persons will be frozen.
Launched in May, 2017, the TFTC is co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States. (end) nsa.gb
