IMF names eight key reform areas to boost Ukraine's economy

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine has introduced and continues to work on eight key structural reform areas to ensure sustainable economic growth, IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Goesta Ljungman has said.

He said this during an open lecture for students of Ternopil National Economic University, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to him, such reform areas include the restructuring of the central bank, the cleaning of the financial sector, the restructuring of the public finance management system and tax administration, pension and energy sector reform, privatization, the fight against corruption, and the opening of the land market.

All these reforms are combined by the need to have a solid institutional basis for their implementation. The IMF representative paid particular attention to the institutional economy, urging future economists to take up this profession more deeply.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at a meeting with members of the Supervisory Board of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) that the Cabinet of Ministers was focused on reforms, primarily in the economic sector, and was also determined to continue constructive dialogue with international partners, including with the IMF.
