11,600 alcohol bottles seized by Oman Customs
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Oman Customs raided three sites used to illegally store alcohol and a bid to smuggle large quantities of banned cigarettes was blocked, Times of Oman reported.
In a statement online Oman Customs said, ""The General Administration of Customs in cooperation with the police of North Batinah and the General Prosecution raided three sites [used] to store alcoholic beverages in the North Al Batinah Governorate and discovered 11,600 bottles of wine."
Meanwhile, customs officials announced that banned cigarettes were being smuggled in large crates in a vehicle.
According to the statement online, "The customs of Hafeet thwarted the smuggling of large quantities of banned cigarettes that were hidden tightly in the crates of a vehicle's box [meant] for smuggling."
