Jordan- Prime Minister receives Iraqi Foreign Minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 6 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Sunday received Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari and an accompanying delegation in the presence of Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi and Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Safiya Suhail.

The Prime Minister underlined the "brotherly and historical" ties between Jordan and Iraqi, stressing the importance of maintaining joint cooperation in various fields to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

Mulki commended the Iraqi victories achieved in the fight against Daesh and other terrorist gangs, praising efforts to strengthen the pillars of security and stability across the country.

He said that Jordan was among the first countries to fight terrorism to serve "our humanity and the security and stability of our societies and show the true image of Islam".

He added that Jordan will not spare any effort to support Iraq in its war against terrorism and to restore its national presence and promote its economy. He stressed that "Iraq is returning to its natural and great status as an active element in the Arab nation".

Mulki pointed out that "based on Jordan's expertise and strong relations, it can play, in coordination with the brothers in Iraq and other Arab parties, an active role in the reconstruction process in Iraq".

For his part, the Iraqi minister praised Jordan's stances, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, towards Iraq, calling on Jordanian companies to invest in Iraq.
