BCI Qatar Forum Chairman wins Middle East award

DOHA: The Business Continuity Institute (BCI), the renowned UK-based Business Continuity and Resilience professional forum with 110 chapters across the globe, has awarded Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei, Chairman of the Business Continuity Institute Qatar Forum, with the coveted 'Continuity and Resilience Industry Personality 2018 Award for the Middle East.

The award was conferred on him during the Institute's annual awards ceremony held in London.

The award is in recognition of the efforts Ali Al Yafei had made in 2017 and 2018 towards promoting and spreading the business continuity and resilience culture across all public and private sectors in the State of Qatar.

The Award was presented by David Thorp, the Executive Director of Business Continuity Institute in London. The award ceremony was attended by a representative of Embassy of the State of Qatar to the United Kingdom.

The Institute's annual Middle East awards witnessed intense competition by many professionals and specialists in the business continuity and resilience field. Winners were selected through a transparent voting system and an independent BCI Middle East Awards Judging Panel. The prestigious awards are highly regarded in the field of business continuity and resilience at the international level.

Commenting on winning the award Ali Al Yafei said: 'This cherished award is the culmination of the BCI-Qatar Forum's success in encouraging Qatari companies and institutions to adopt a business continuity and resilience system as part of their operations.

'The level of awareness demonstrated by the business community in Qatar and the Forum's endorsement by eminent national figures and leaders since its inception in 2014, as well as the advocacy and support they showed for the first Business Continuity Conference have had a great impact on highlighting the efforts of the Forum.

In 2017, the BCI-Qatar Forum realised a number of important achievements, including the establishment of several meetings that were attended by many business continuity and resilience professionals and specialists from various public and private sectors.

During the year, the Forum also organized the first business continuity and resilience conference under the title 'Business Continuity ... Stability and Achievements, which was met with great acclaim especially during the recent crisis in Qatar.
