Qatar- International seminar on relief work organised

DOHA: The Islamic Forum for International Humanitarian Law (IFIHL), an affiliate of the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent (ICIC), has organised its 2nd International Seminar, under the theme of 'Relief Work between Islamic Jurisprudence and International Practice.

The event was hosted by the Higher Institute of Islamic Civilization, the Ez-Zitouna University. The Doha-based IFIHL is located at the premises of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).

The two-day event was attended by Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of QRCS, Dr. Fawzi Oussedik, President of IFIHL and Head of International Relations at QRCS, Dr. Mohamed H. Elasbali, Executive Director of IFIHL, and a slew of academics and experts.

In his lecture on ‘A Diplomatic Approach to Humanitarian and Relief Action', Mr. Al-Hammadi gave an overview of the different definitions of humanitarian diplomacy, how it is seen by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), QRCS's experience in this regard, and a comparison between political and humanitarian diplomacy.
