Aspetar provides medical support to 2018 Doha Diamond League athletes

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) For the eighth consecutive year, Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, provided its world-class medical support to international and local athletes who took part in the 2018 IAAF Doha Diamond League held on Friday.
Aspetar's ongoing collaboration with the Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) in providing medical coverage to the Doha Diamond League is another example of Aspetar's commitment to helping athletes achieve their full potential during sports events hosted in Qatar.
For this year's Doha Diamond League, Aspetar set up on-site facilities at the Qatar Sports Club offering services to all participating athletes. A team of 37 physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and massage therapists provided immediate medical care throughout the event and at the participants' residences.
Events like the Diamond League provide Aspetar experts with invaluable opportunities to hone their procedures in preparation for the 2019 World Championships, scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 6 at Khalifa International Stadium, and the 48th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, scheduled to take place from October 25 to November 3, 2018. At both of these events, Aspetar will be the official medical provider.
By supporting such events, Aspetar is cementing its leading role in the treatment and prevention of injury to local, regional and international athletes across all sports. Aspetar's experts have a wealth of experience in supporting athletes participating in major tournaments in Qatar, including the 24th Men's Handball World Championship in 2015, the 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships, and the 2016 UCI Road World Championships, and abroad.
Aspetar has become the preferred sports medicine destination for a number of sports stars across all disciplines, including athletics stars such as South African Olympian Wayde van Niekerk, Croatian discus thrower Sandra Perkovic, Tunisian long and middle distance runner Habiba Ghribi; Olympic track and field champion Taoufik Makhloufi, French middle-distance runner Mahiedine Mekhissi and US Olympians Christian Taylor, LaShawn Merritt, Justin Gatlin and Alison Felix.
