Oman bodybuilders excel at Asian meet in Mongolia


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Omar al Maskari claimed two gold while Sulaiman al Riyami won another as Oman returned home with a total of three gold and two silver medals from the recently-concluded 52nd AFBF Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Maskari won the gold in the men's classic bodybuilding (+175cm) and then won his second gold when he was adjudged the best in the men's classic bodybuilding overall category.

Riyami won the top place in the junior men's physique ahead of Bahrain's Abdulrahman Ebrahim Bushager and UAE's Shuaib Abdulla Alrabea Mohamed.

Sanad al Amri claimed the silver in the men's physique (+182cm), finishing behind Jordan's Ahmad Mohammad Halaiqah.

Majid al Subhi picked silver in the men's bodybuilding (+70kg) behind Iran's Farsha Ganji.

In the team championships, Oman was ninth among the 19 teams with 75 points. China won the title with 201 points.

Salim al Bahri, chairman of the Oman Bodybuilding Committee congratulated the winners and hoped that the team will continue to bring more medals at the forthcoming West Asia Championships in Bahrain in first week of May.
