(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BERLIN, May 2 (KUNA) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmed on Wednesday that her government is still keen on standing behind the nuclear deal with Iran and called for extending negations on the issue of Iran's missile program and its influence in the region.
In a statement, Merkel called on the international group to negotiate the Iranian missile program along with its efforts in expanding its influence in the region in a way that can be agreed upon by all European countries.
In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement to Iran last Monday, Merkel emphasized on the need to handover evidence on the allegations of an Iranian-nuclear secretive developments program to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Heiko Mass also underlined the importance of handing over the documents obtained by the Israeli government to the IAEA to confirm and validate the recently made announcement.
In an interview with German daily newspaper (Bild), Mass stated his countries confidence in IAEA monitoring mechanisms, confirming their position on the Iran-Nuclear deal held in Vienna on July 2015.
Last Monday, the Israeli Prime Minister's announcement discussed documents obtained which he said prove the continued development of a secretive nuclear program by the government in Tehran, and to attain nuclear weapons ignoring the deal reached in Vienna. (end) anj.aq
