(MENAFN) A UAE fishing boat had reportedly been sailing through the waters of the Gulf of Oman when it was attacked by "pirates".
Emirati fisherman Yousef Baroun claimed that his boat has been pierced by bullets by a group of men near the coast of Fujairah emirate.
Speaking to The National, the fisherman said "they appeared from nowhere and told us to go back and immediately started shooting at our boat."
The captain then added "we tried to escape but they managed to shoot our engines and damaged them. We laid down on the floor to avoid the gunshots and then another boat came to rescue us."
