Jordan- Heavy downpours forecast until Friday, flash floods warnings
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, April 25 (Petra) -- A drop in mercury levels is forecast on Wednesday with cloudy skies and rainfall across many parts of the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
Starting this afternoon, heavy rain accompanied with thunderstorms are also expected, leading to floods in valleys and low altitude areas with easterly winds shifting to northwesterly at night.
Daytime temperatures expected in Amman and the northern cities will hover around 21 degrees Celsius, while they will stand at 16 in the southern governorates, dropping down to 12, 10 and 9 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 28 degrees and lows standing at 19, the JMD added.
Similar weather conditions are also expected over the next two days, with the remaining chance of rainfall in several parts of the country accompanied with thunder and lightning at times. Floods in valleys and low altitude area with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds are also forecast in different parts of the country, the meteorologists said.
