Pakistan- DG ISPR assures protesting traders of Waziristan of compensation for losses


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) MIRAN SHAH: Traders community of North Waziristan Agency and Pak army on Sunday agreed to constitute two committees that would carry out surveys to assess volume of losses the former suffered due to war on terror.

The decision was taken at a jirga held here between traders and Director General Inter Servies Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, Additional Chief Secretary Sikandar Qayyum.

A statement issued here by ISPR stated that political agent would supervise the surveys to assess worth of losses suffered by traders of Miran Shah and Mir Ali and other areas.

Essentially the issue relates to financial assistance provided to shopkeepers for the perishable commodities which were present in the shops before the operation began.

According to the political agent, it was decided that the committee of affected shopkeepers under the NWA PA shall make an estimate of the amount that needs to be compensated.

They agreed that the committee would complete surveys within stipulated time and the political administration would compensate all of them.

DG ISPR said that the jirga was convened on directions of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, adding that he believed that all issues could be resolved peacefully and through dialogue.

The traders community said that they trust the government and said that they would not pay heed to elements active against the state.
