Oman: OPWP sign agreements for major water plant

(MENAFN) Several deals have been signed by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company for the construction of the Salalah Independent Water Project (IWP).
OPWP is the producer of the project of which is planned to offer a capacity of 25 million gallons per day of desalinated water with the use of reverse osmosis technology.
The plant is expected to be crucial for water demand in Dhofar to be met, with the demand forecast for a boost by an average of 6 percent per annum in the following 7 years.
"This project is considered as the first standalone water desalination project in the Governorate of Dhofar and would positively contribute to security of water supply," OPWP chief Yaqoob Bin Saif Al Kiyumi stated.
