Qatar generates USD12bn in bond issue

(MENAFN) Qatar's bond issuance was confirmed to have generated USD12 billion, achieving a rebound into global debt markets after suffering from a blockade.

It is considered as the biggest placement by an emerging market sovereign in 2018 so far, marking a huge success to the country in the middle of a blockade which the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain imposed.

After being inquired on the result of the bond placement, a Qatari government official responded "the overall success of the issue clearly reflects the strength of the Qatari economy and the confidence the state enjoys from international investors."

It comes after Qatar was collected a triple-tranche US dollar-denominated bond, a worth of over USD52 billion of orders.
