Egypt resumes flights to Kurdistan region


(MENAFN) After 7 months of halting, on Friday, EgyptAir operated its first flight to the capital of Kurdistan region in Iraq, Erbil.

The national carrier will operate three flights per week to the Kurdish capital, on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, to become four flights per week in the second half of next September.

International flights to Erbil were halted at the end of September after Iraqi authorities banned flights to the semi-autonomous region, in retaliation for the Kurdistan region's vote on independence.

Also Lufthansa, Austrian, MEA and Turkish Airlines resume flights to Erbil in Iraq"s Kurdistan region in April.
