Saudi Arabia, Spain Issue Joint Statement 3

Regarding the Yemeni issue, the two sides expressed their full support for the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen Martin Griffiths in his efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on Security Council Resolution No. 2216 (2015). Spain reiterated its condemnation of the use of Houthi ballistic missiles to attack Saudi cities. The two sides stressed the importance of compliance with Security Council Resolution No. 2216 (2015), which prohibits the supply of arms to illegal militias in Yemen, calling whoever supports the militias with weapons to comply with the international resolutions. The two sides also affirmed their support for the provision of necessary humanitarian aid in Yemen. Spain commended Saudi Arabia's plan for comprehensive humanitarian relief for the Yemeni people, which was funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with $1 billion.
The two sides also stressed the importance of Iran's commitment to the principle of good neighborliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and the non-provision of any form of support for terrorist militias. The two sides called on Iran to abide by the international resolutions on ballistic missiles, stressing the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of the talks between the two sides during the visit of HRH the Crown Prince.
HRH the Crown Prince thanked King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy Brey for their warm welcome and generous hospitality.
