(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil announced in a press statement on Tuesday that Egyptian exports to the Belgian market witnessed an increase of 28% in 2017 compared to 2016.
He explained that Egyptian exports to the Belgian market grew in 2017 to record about ‚¬320m, up from ‚¬250m a year prior, bringing the total value of trade exchange between the two countries to ‚¬1.6bn in 2017, versus ‚¬1.4bn in 2016, an increase of 11%.
This came in the context of the latest report received by the minister from the Egyptian Commercial Service Office in Brussels on the development of trade exchange between Egypt and Belgium during 2017 compared to 2016.
For his part, Ahmed Antar, head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS), revealed that 80% of the exported Egyptian commodity items during 2017 were plastics and plastic products, electrical appliances, cables, fruits and vegetables, iron, steel, ceramic products, garments, and chemicals.
Antar stressed that 2017 witnessed the export of a number of products that were not exported during the same period of the previous year, such as flat-rolled products of iron and steel, black honey, lead products, orange juice, and fibre glass.
