Turkey to open border with Afrin

(MENAFN) A new border crossing will be opened between Turkey and the southern city of Afrin, Customs and Trade Minister Bulent Tufenkci told Anadolu Agency Wednesday.

Tufenkci said: "We plan to open the customs gate by mid-May."

"Our work for the customs gate is still continuing..Our works will end soon."

He said the gate would speed up the delivery of 'humanitarian' aid to Afrin and meet the infrastructure needs of the region.

Turkey-backed FSA militia swept into Afrin town on Mar. 18, raising their and Turkish flags in the town center and declaring full control after an eight-week campaign to drive out Kurdish YPG fighters.
