Oman- CAS to host symposium on Sustainable Development in Sur


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Colleges of Applied Sciences (CAS) Annual Symposium entitled, 'Technology and Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Development', will commenceon Sundayat the Sur College of Applied Sciences.

The event on April 8 and 9 will see a host of researchers, academicians, students and members of the community gather to share their knowledge and experiences in this field.

The opening ceremony of the symposium will be held under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Keynote speakers at the symposium are Dr Amer Awadh al Rawas, CEO, Tasneea Oil & Gas Technology group and Dr Saif Nasser al Bahry, director, Oil and Gas Research Centre, Sultan Qaboos University.

Dean of Sur CAS, Dr Salma al Musharafy, said, 'Entrepreneurship and technology are key to the sustainable development of our country. We need to promote competition, entrepreneurship and innovation amongst our youth. We hope that the event will be a wonderful platform for all of us to learn and discover new things.'

The two-day symposium will see academicians and researchers in a variety of disciplines deliberate on such themes as E-Governance for Entrepreneurship, Smart Cities and Smart Societies, Bio-technology and Entrepreneurship, Environmentally Sustainable Business Models and Social Media & Entrepreneurship among other areas of study.
