(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Registration for the sixth round of Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment opened on Monday. Applications for the award, organised by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), will be accepted till August 2.
In this round, the award comprises ten categories, three of which have been newly added, distributed for government, private and SMEs sectors, stated a press release.
Two new categories are for government entities, which are Best Open Data Initiative and Best Government Application for Smart Devices. The third is specified for the private sector, for the Best Private Application for Smart Devices.
Hence, the government sector entities can compete in seven different categories, namely, Best Open Data Initiative, Best Government Application for Smart Devices, Best Government eService – individuals, Best Whole of Government Project, Best eService Supporting Doing Business, Best Practice in Community eParticipation and Best eTransformation Achievement.
The private sector's large organisations can compete in two categories – Best Private Application for Smart Devices and Best Private eService. Besides, the private sector ICT Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) can participate, in one category: Best SME eService. Registration for Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment can
be done online through www.ita.gov.om/Award2018.
The Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment started in 2010 to honour digital projects that have provided exceptional achievements and innovations in information technology. The award also aims to improve the quality of local services and simplify their procedures to ensure greater confidence and public contribution.
Over the past five rounds, more than 49 projects from 29 entities have competed and won the award categories. All these projects have contributed to streamlining life and accelerating processes in a number of government and private entities resulting in greater benefit for the community.
