Indonesian woman faces beheading for killing five in UAE

(MENAFN- Asia Times) An Indonesian woman working in the United Arab Emirates has been sentenced to death after being convicted of murdering five people.

Aan binti Andi Asip, who went to the UAE in 2013, allegedly murdered two Indonesian women, two Thai women and a Bangladeshi man on December 7 last year, Antara News reported.

Asip was arrested and brought to Al Wathba prison in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi court sentenced Asip to death by beheading about two weeks ago.

According to Ahmad Suroto, an official from Indonesia's Labour and Transmigration Office, Asip was the lone suspect in the case, Media Indonesia reported.

Suroto confirmed the news after he received a letter on Asip's case on March 21.

Suroto said the motive for the murder was not yet known. He had yet to receive any detailed information about the case.

Suroto said the Indonesian government was currently assisting Asip to file an appeal against the court ruling.
