Augusta, Georgia, Rajab 23, 1439, April 09, 2018, SPA -- Patrick Reed won the first major title of
his career Sunday at the Masters, outduelling fellow Americans Rickie
Fowler and Jordan Spieth, according to dpa.
The 27-year-old, who settled atop the leader board late in the second round, finished with a 15-under 273, the seventh-best 72-hole score in Augusta National history.
Fowler, who now has been runner-up at three different majors without a title, was one stroke back.
Spieth flirted with a course-record 9-under final round of 63 and briefly levelled with Reed at 14-under before bogeying the 18th. The 2015 Masters champion finished 13-under, and has now finished third or better in four of his five career outings in Augusta.
Reed, ranked 24th in the world, jumped into the lead with a round of 66 on Friday. The final-round 1-under was his only score this week that failed to fall below 70 on the par-72 course.
