Turkey experiences its second warmest season since 1971


(MENAFN) Since 1971, the 2017-2018 winter season has been Turkey's second warmest on record, according to Ahval which quoted an official from the State Meteorological Service.

While average temperature during the 2017-2018 winter season was measured at 6.4 degrees Celsius - 2.8 degrees above the average temperature in 1981-2010 - the warmest winter season to date was in the winter of 2010-2011 with an average of 6.8 degrees Celsius, noted Ismail GuneÅŸ, the director general of Turkey's meteorological service.

According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), 2017 was the third hottest year ever recorded on the planet.
