Reports: Israeli army to open inquiry into murdered Palestinian journalist

(MENAFN) The Israeli army is to reportedly open an inquiry into the case of a Palestinian journalist who was killed after being shot in a dispute between Israeli troops and Palestinian protesters.

Several sources reported the journalist, identified as Yasser Murtaja, to have been wearing what obviously seems as a marked press vest the moment he was shot.

The photographer was later pronounced dead due to his injuries, marking him as the 28th Palestinian victim in one week.

Israeli website Ynet News reported "the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] does not intentionally fire on journalists," adding "the circumstances in which journalists were hit, allegedly by IDF fire, are unknown to us and are being examined."
