Amman Mayor participates in ATO Executive Council session


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, April 8 (Petra) -- Amman Mayor Yousef Shwarbeh took part in the 55th session of the Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organization (ATO), which kicked off in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

Organized by Rabat region in collaboration with the Arab Forum for Smart Cities, the two-day event, dubbed "Electronic and Smart Transformation in Arab Cities", aims to explore ways to provide prosperity for Arab cities' residents and improve their conditions.

"Our Arab cities encounter challenges that constrain development and growth, a situation that demand us to work together in and come up with solutions to face these obstacles and keep pace with proper planning", Shawarbeh told the gathering.

Shawarbeh, moreover, said that "We work through the ATO to consolidate and guide efforts within a practical institutional framework to march confidently towards a better future".

For his part, ATO Secretary-General Ahmad Al-Sabeeh affirmed the importance of smart electronic transformation to cope up with social, economic and environmental changes that contribute to improving living conditions.

Participants also stressed that electronic and smart transformation in Arab cities requires an ever-evolving electronic infrastructure and a legal arsenal that ensures safe and secure electronic and smart handling.
