Egyptian website down after exposing election fraud

(MENAFN) An Egyptian newspaper's website has gone down after it was hit with condemnation for a report that unveiled election fraud.

Al-Masry al-Youm website was struck as inaccessible only days after being fined by Egypt's media regulator, Cairo internet users confirmed to The New Arab.

Meanwhile, the privately-owned website was confirmed to be accessible from places that are outside of Egypt.

Journalists from the newspaper said in a joint statement "we cannot be silent against the fierce attack or accept the ongoing violations... the reason for this that is currently being advanced is a headline that stirred differing opinions."
