Israeli occupation forces kill 2 Palestinians in Gaza

(MENAFN) A Palestinian man was martyred by Israeli army forces on Thursday near the Gaza Strip's eastern border with Israel, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Thursday, Anadolu Agency reported.

"The man's body was brought to Gaza City's Al-Shifa medical complex. We are in the process of trying to identify him," ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a second Palestinian, Shadi Hamdan al-Kashif, 34, succumbed to injuries sustained earlier, according to the ministry.

This brings death toll since last Friday, when the mass border rallies began, to 20.

Demonstrations in the Gaza Strip are part of an annual Palestinian commemoration of the deaths of six Arab Israeli citizens killed by Israeli forces in 1976, during protests against government land confiscations in northern Israel.

The rallies were the start of a six-week protest that culminates May 15, the day the Palestinians call Nakba, or Catastrophe, when Israel was founded.

Protesters are demanding Palestinian refugees be allowed the right of return to towns and villages their families fled, or were driven out of, when the state of Israel was created in 1948.
