More than 200 extremist settlers storm Al Aqsa compound

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, April 4 (Petra) -- More than 200 extremist settlers early Wednesday stormed Al-Aqsa mosque in the Jerusalem compounds under the protection of Israeli police to celebrate Jewish holidays, a Palestinian official said.

The General Director of the Islamic Awqaf and al-Aqsa Affairs, Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, told Petra's reporter in Ramallah that settlers have increased the number of their break-ins at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif in occupied Jerusalem in the run up to Jewish holidays.

"Today's raid was carried out by more than 200 extremist settlers who entered from Al-Magharebah Gate and under heavy protection of Israeli special forces and police and performed their Talmudic rituals inside the Muslim's holy shrine, Al-Khatib added." The situation will be more dangerous in the afternoon, as the number of settlers and break-ins will increase, Al-Khatib added.
