Indian boxing coach dismisses doping claims at Commonwealth Games

(MENAFN) India's boxing coach appeared to dismiss allegations of a doping incident at the Commonwealth Games 2018.

Coach Santiago Nieva denied the claims which emerged based on a discovery of syringers in the athletes' village.

The coach justified the syringes in explaining that one of the boxers in the team needed to take a vitamin injection due to health reasons.

Speaking to Australia's 7 News, the coach declared "I'm confident that our boxers haven't taken anything," he then explained "we had one boxer that wasn't very feeling well and the doctor has given him an injection."
